CAFE INSIDER BASICS

What is included with a CAFE Insider subscription?

CAFE Insider helps you to make sense of law and politics. As a member, you receive access to exclusive content including podcasts, text alerts, a newsletter, and more.

  • A new weekly, ad-free podcast with Preet and Anne Milgram breaking down the latest headlines.
  • Extended conversations with guests from Stay Tuned With Preet, which are not available in the free podcast feed.
  • Text alerts featuring Preet’s real-time reactions to breaking news.
  • Town Calls: quarterly conference calls with Preet and contributors.
  • A weekly newsletter featuring a note and recommendations from Preet and the Insider team.
  • Early access to live events.

How is CAFE Insider different from CAFE?

CAFE offers free content on cafe.com. This includes content like the Stay Tuned With Preet podcast, select videos, and articles.

CAFE Insider helps members to make sense of news and issues at the intersection of law, politics, and justice. In addition to the free content on cafe.com, members receive access to exclusive content including podcasts, text alerts, a newsletter, and more.

CAFE and CAFE Insider are divisions of the company, Some Spider Studios.

How do I sign up for CAFE Insider?

You can become a member of Insider by going to cafe.com/insider and choosing one of our membership options. All new members currently receive their first 14 days for free.

How much does CAFE Insider cost?

New members can currently join Insider for 14 days free. Members then pay either $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year. The annual rate gives members a 30% savings on the monthly rate.

Please note: when you sign up, your payment method (PayPal for example) will be verified – and this verification may be shown on your account – but you will not be charged for the Insider membership until the end of your 14 day free trial.

Will my subscription auto-renew?

To ensure uninterrupted access to CAFE Insider, memberships are set to automatically renew at the end of the term.

I subscribed to CAFE Insider. What should I do now?

Thank you for becoming a member of CAFE Insider. Please visit cafe.com/insider to sign in and catch up on all the content that helps you to make sense of law and politics. Visit the CAFE Insider Feed for the latest podcasts, articles, videos and more.

When you are logged into CAFE Insider on desktop, you will see the navigation bar along the top that includes links to the Insider Feed, Insider Podcast, Stay Tuned and Events.

When you are logged into CAFE Insider on mobile, you will see a dropdown menu in the top right that includes links to the Insider Feed, Insider Podcast, Stay Tuned and Events.

Can I listen to the new CAFE Insider podcast in my favorite app?

Members can always stream the CAFE Insider Podcast on the site via desktop or mobile. If you would like to be a beta tester of our podcast feed solution for members, please email insider@cafe.com after joining. Remember to visit the CAFE Insider feed for recommended videos, articles and more.

When is the CAFE Insider Podcast released?

While the news cycle may affect release times, there will generally be a new episode every Monday by 6pm EST.

Can I receive text alerts featuring Preet’s real-time reactions to breaking news?

Yes! Please make sure your phone number is entered into the Profile tab of the My Account section. Make sure you have checked the box next to ‘Receive Insider text alerts.’

If you have a US-based number, for example, please enter the area code and phone number in the following format: 2125551212

If you have a UK-based number, for example, please enter the country code, area code and phone number in the following format: 442012345678 (where ’44’ is the country code; and ’20’ is the area code)

Please note that texts may come from more than one number in the coming weeks. Each will be ‘signed’ by Preet or the CAFE Insider Team.

Unfortunately, at this time we cannot review members’ responses to our texts.

How do I get the weekly newsletter which features a note and recommendations from Preet?

The newsletter is sent every Wednesday to the email address associated with your account. If you have not received a newsletter, please make sure that Insider emails are not being filtered into your junk, promotion, or spam email folders.

Members can also see past newsletters in the CAFE Insider Feed.

 

SIGNING UP AND SIGNING IN

What if I am having trouble signing up for CAFE Insider?

Please make sure ad blockers are disabled while visiting cafe.com and cafe.com/insider, and allow ‘Tinypass’ and ‘Piano’ to serve content on the site.

Please visit cafe.com and choose ‘LOGIN’ from the four-dot menu in the top left.

If you continue to have problems, email us at insider@cafe.com.

What if I am having trouble signing in to CAFE Insider?

Please visit cafe.com and choose ‘LOGIN’ from the four-dot menu in the top left.

If you are a member and encounter the Monthly/Annual plan screen, please choose the Login option. If this does not display, please choose the Monthly plan (you will not be charged) and select Login on the following screen.

Please make sure ad blockers are disabled while visiting cafe.com and cafe.com/insider, and allow ‘Tinypass’ and ‘Piano’ to serve content on the site.

MEMBERSHIP PLANS

Can companies create group memberships to Insider?

If your company is interested in a group membership to Insider, please email insider@cafe.com for information on special rates.

Can college students get a special Insider membership rate?

We will be offering a special rate for current students with a .edu email address. Please sign up for updates at cafe.com/preet.

Is there a family membership available?

We will be offering a special rate for families in the future. Please sign up for updates at cafe.com/preet.

 

TROUBLE SHOOTING

What if I am having trouble resetting my password?

If you have clicked ‘forgot my password’ and entered your email, you should receive a password reset email. Please make sure that Insider emails are not being filtered into your junk, promotion, or spam email folders.

Please make sure ad blockers are disabled. Click on the link in the password reset email, and create a new password.

After selecting a new password, please visit cafe.com/insider/feeds/

Is my payment information secure?

CAFE Insider uses Braintree for payment processing. Via Braintree, we accept major credit cards and PayPal. CAFE Insider does not hold your credit card information. Your information is encrypted and stored by BraintreeBraintree is a division of the public company, PayPal. Click here to learn more about Braintree.

Please note that if you pay with PayPal, there will be a verification shown on your account, but you will not actually be charged for your membership until the end of your 14 day free trial.

What if I receive an error message or cannot complete my transaction for other reasons?

Please email us at insider@cafe.com, and we will work to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

How do I update my credit card on file?

Please update your credit card by visiting the My Account section of Insider after you log in. Click on ‘Cards’ and ‘Add Card’ to add your new credit card information. If you have problems, please email us at insider@cafe.com.

How do I cancel my membership to CAFE Insider?

Please visit the My Account section of Insider to cancel your membership. Choose the ‘Membership’ tab and click ‘Manage.’ If you have problems, please email us at insider@cafe.com.
